Cuba City WI senior photographer | Camryn’s Rainy Day Session on the Farm

Some senior sessions hold more than just light — they hold legacy. As a Cuba City WI senior photographer, I’ve had the honor of photographing many incredible seniors, but Camryn’s story is one I’ll carry with me.

Her session took place on a rainy June evening at her grandparents’ farm in South Wayne, WI. We trusted the radar, hoped for a break in the clouds, and were gifted a window of calm just long enough to create something unforgettable. What followed was 90 minutes of meaningful moments — puddle reflections, childhood memories in the hay mow, and a rainbow that felt like a message from above.

Taking a chance with weather — and trusting the timing

When I left home, it was pouring. The forecast showed a narrow break in the storm, so we made the call to go for it. As I pulled up to the farm, the rain had just stopped. There was still moisture in the air and puddles on the ground, but the light was soft and hopeful.

This is one of the quiet skills you develop as a Cuba City WI senior photographer — learning to see the moment before it’s obvious. We started right away, knowing we had limited time.

Roadside reflections & a walk through memory

Camryn began her session walking down a quiet gravel road. The leftover puddles reflected her in the soft light, adding depth and calm to the images.

Next, we moved to the hay mow of the barn — a place she remembered from childhood. She used to play up there with kittens, and being in that space again brought a quiet joy to her face. It’s these personal places that bring out the truest versions of who our seniors are.

A dress, a barn wall, and a rainbow from heaven

After an outfit change into a soft, flowy dress, we wandered over to the side of the barn for some classic portraits. That’s when her mom spotted it — a rainbow stretching across the cloudy sky behind us.

Just four months earlier, Camryn lost her dad. That rainbow felt like more than weather. It felt like a sign that he was near, proud, and present. We paused, composed the shot, and captured her with the rainbow behind her. It was breathtaking — not just visually, but emotionally.

As a Cuba City WI senior photographer, these are the moments you don’t plan for but treasure forever.

Sunset skies, second outfits & a session to remember

Camryn changed once more into a sundress, and we made our way around the farm, catching the shifting evening light. The clouds gave us a painterly sky — moody and rich with texture. The rain had softened everything, adding a softness and peace to the entire session.

To honor her dad, Camryn brought a few items that held personal meaning. We included them in her portraits — a quiet, respectful way to make space for his memory in this milestone moment.

More than photos: a heart-led session full of story

This session felt bigger than us. It was about more than checking boxes or poses — it was about listening, slowing down, and honoring who Camryn is and the journey she’s on.

Camryn, thank you for trusting me with this sacred space in your story. You showed up with grace, strength, and an open heart — and it shines through every frame.
