I'm a senior portrait photographer, educator, and podcast host based in Benton, Wisconsin — right in the heart of the tri-state area where Southwest Wisconsin, Northeast Iowa, and Northwest Illinois all come together.

I photograph high school seniors who want to feel confident and comfortable in front of the camera. And I help photographers build businesses that feel more organized, intentional, and sustainable — without the burnout

Hi, I'm Sarah

How I got here

Photography started as a creative outlet and quickly became a way for me to connect with people in meaningful moments.

After a 21-year career in corporate graphic design, I made the leap to doing this full time — and I haven't looked back. Now I get to spend my days out on the back roads of Southwest Wisconsin, chasing golden hour with high school seniors who are right on the edge of something really big.

Over time I realized something important: great photos don't come from rushing or forcing the process — they come from trust, guidance, and experience. That belief shapes everything I do now, whether I'm photographing a senior near Platteville or mentoring a photographer halfway across the country.

My approach

Whether I'm out on location with a senior in Southwest Wisconsin or hopping on a call with a photographer building their business, the focus is always the same:
Create clarity before we ever pick up the camera
Remove overwhelm — for seniors, for parents, and for photographers
Build confidence that shows up in every single photo

I value thoughtful planning, calm systems, and experiences that feel supportive from start to finish. That's true whether you're a high school senior in Benton or a photographer in a totally different state trying to figure it all out.

For Seniors

Senior portraits should feel exciting — not stressful. And honestly? They really can.

I work with high school seniors across Southwest Wisconsin, Northeast Iowa, and Northwest Illinois — and every single session is built around making your senior feel prepared, relaxed, and completely themselves.

I guide each senior through outfit choices, location options, and posing so nothing feels awkward or last-minute. Parents can trust that their senior is in good hands — and that the experience is just as important as the final images.

For Photographers

I teach photographers how to work smarter, not harder.
That includes workflows, client experience, modern tools, and honest conversations about what it really takes to run a creative business — without burning out. Whether you're just starting out or a few years in and feeling stuck, I've probably been exactly where you are.

Outside the camera

When I'm not out shooting in the fields and back roads of Southwest Wisconsin, you'll usually find me outdoors, thrifting, creating something with my hands, or enjoying a slower pace of life.

I'm a small-town Wisconsin girl through and through — and that shows up in my work. The wide open spaces, the golden light, the farms and wildflower patches and gravel roads... this place is home, and I think it shows in every session I shoot here.
