Megan’s senior session was an absolute dream, blending her love for a Western aesthetic with her cherished five horses. We began the evening at Megan’s home, where I joined her and her mom for a location scout. Our first stop was the neighbor’s picturesque backyard, adorned with flowers, peony bushes, and a serene water feature.
We kicked off the shoot with two outfits, utilizing a rosebush trellis, the water feature, and tall grass for diverse backdrops. However, the imminent storm prompted us to move quickly to our second location—a stunning river bottom where the horses awaited. Our priority was to capture Megan with all five horses before the rain began. With a bit of coaxing and horse treats, we managed to get the perfect shot of all five horses looking at the camera.
Next, we took individual portraits with each horse, culminating in shots of Megan in the saddle with her favorite horse, Duke. The session concluded with Megan, Duke, and their dog Maggie, just as the rain started pouring.
Despite the weather, the session was a success, capturing beautiful moments and memories. We’ll meet again in the fall for the second part of Megan’s senior session at her aunt and uncle’s house, featuring a charming creek in their backyard. This session promises to be as enchanting as the first, completing Megan’s senior portrait collection.
